Polishing
Principle
Buffing is a sanding technique that reduces the roughness of a part to a mirror-like shine in some cases.
Methods and tools
Buffing can be carried out manually, using a portable electric machine or a robot. Whether for manual or mechanical buffing, you will need several abrasive products such as felt, cotton, flannel, sheepskin, rod-mounted and bore disks, but also buffing compound and buffing products. In the case of robotised buffing, all these components are included directly in the machine.
Advantages
Thanks to buffing, you will obtain a perfectly flat and smooth surface to which no impurities will stick. Buffed parts are especially sought-after in the food industry, the pharmaceutical sector or for design projects.
Precautions
Before carrying out any buffing work, make sure you protect yourself with suitable personal protection equipment : goggles, masks, gloves, earplugs, helmets, overalls, etc.
