Countersinking is a process that consists in removing material from a part, in shavings, via rotary movements.
Methods and tools
There are many different types of tools available for countersinking your various parts. Their shape, diameter and hardness must be taken into account, according to the nature, material and size of the part in question.
Thanks to countersinking, you can cut your parts in a very specific way, to form different holes, which is not possible using parting. For example, you will be able to create a thread in order to screw in other components.
Before carrying out any countersinking work, make sure you protect yourself with suitable personal protection equipment : goggles, masks, gloves, earplugs, helmets, overalls, etc.
