Brushing
Principle
Brushing involves making movements on a surface to render it mat, give it a brushed texture and thus remove any residue or coarse traces of grinding.
Methods and tools
Brushing can be carried out on different types of material such as stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, wood or synthetic materials. Depending on the work you carry out, you will need wire wheel brushes, boring brushes, rod-mounted brushes or hand brushes, brushes with twisted or crimped wire, or high- or low-density wire. You will also need swabs available for cleaning and removing deposits after brushing.
Advantages
Thanks to brushing, you will obtain a surface that is more resistant to scratching and on which any scratches that may still occur will be significantly reduced.
Precautions
Before any brushing work, make sure you protect yourself with suitable personal protection equipment : goggles, masks, gloves, earplugs, helmets, overalls, etc.
