Principle

Sanding is a technique used for treating surfaces by rubbing them with an abrasive material. Whether manually or mechanically, you carry out regular movement on different types of surfaces such as wood, metal, etc., to obtain a specific result.

Methods and tools

Sanding can be carried out in dry or wet sprayed conditions, either manually or mechanically. If you choose manual sanding, you will need sandpaper or sanding mesh [Link to the e-shop]. With an electric or pneumatic machine, you will need to use disks, belts or abrasive wheels.

Advantages

Thanks to sanding, you will be able to obtain a surface without asperities or on which the grain will show through and you will be able to erase any eventual scratches on your part, to prepare it to be painted, polished or have a coating applied.

Precautions

Before carrying out any sanding work, make sure you protect yourself with suitable personal protection equipment : goggles, masks, gloves, earplugs, helmets, overalls, etc.
